These Terms of Use govern your use of PorchTalk, operated by Halite & Ember. By using PorchTalk in any way, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the platform.
1. What PorchTalk is
PorchTalk is a platform where people can anonymously share personal challenges and receive advice and support from the community and from verified advisers called Imorans.
Important: What PorchTalk is NOT
- PorchTalk is not a therapy service or mental health treatment
- Imorans are not licensed therapists or medical professionals (unless stated)
- Advice given on PorchTalk does not constitute professional legal, financial or medical advice
- PorchTalk is not a crisis intervention or emergency service
If you are in immediate danger, please call your local emergency services.
2. Eligibility
- You must be at least 13 years old to use PorchTalk
- If you are between 13 and 18, you confirm that a parent or guardian is aware of your use of the platform
- Imoran accounts require you to be at least 18 years old and to pass our verification process
3. Your responsibilities
When you post or respond on PorchTalk, you agree to:
- Post honestly and in good faith
- Respect the vulnerability of others sharing on the platform
- Not use the platform to harass, bully or target any individual
- Not post content that is hateful, discriminatory, violent or sexually explicit
- Not post spam, advertisements or promotional content
- Not attempt to identify or expose the identity of an anonymous poster
- Not impersonate an Imoran, moderator or member of the PorchTalk team
- Not use the platform to solicit money, services or personal contact from vulnerable users
4. Content and moderation
- All posts are reviewed before they appear on the platform. We reserve the right to approve, reject, edit or remove any content at our sole discretion.
- Posts that trigger our crisis detection system will have mental health resources attached automatically.
- Content that violates these Terms or our Community Guidelines will be removed. Repeat violations may result in being blocked from posting.
- You retain ownership of the content you post. By posting, you grant PorchTalk a licence to display that content on the platform.
5. Imorans
- Imorans are verified by Halite & Ember but are independent advisers, not employees.
- Halite & Ember is not liable for advice given by Imorans. Users engage with Imoran advice at their own discretion.
- Imorans agree to a separate Code of Conduct at the time of verification.
6. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Halite & Emberis not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of PorchTalk, including any advice received through the platform. We provide PorchTalk "as is" without warranties of any kind.
7. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. The updated date at the top of this page will reflect any changes. Continued use of PorchTalk after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
8. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
