Six years and still on the same grade

Six years at this place and it still the same grade, and same 5am starts. The painful thing is that a few days ago, they brought in someone from outside for a senior role that I also applied for and am qualified for. Like I literally already do the work just without the pay. The person they brought has no experience oo, I will still train him. To be honest, I just smiled and said congratulations. I don't mean him any harm, I am just disappointed with the company. There is something I have been building on the side tho, like a small business, but I cannot afford to leave a steady income on the feeling that something might work. but every time I enter this office I just sit and think, is this what another five years looks like? Any advice will help right now.
